University researches terahertz waves

Researchers from the University of Wuppertal are working on the “terahertz.NRW” network. The project is part of a new, state-wide funding program. Terahertz waves are used in industry, for example, to monitor and measure production processes. Terahertz technology is also used for data transmission in smartphones. The University of Wuppertal is working on the project together with other universities and the Fraunhofer Institute. The state of NRW is funding the research with around 1.5 million euros over the next four years.
