Research data is the core of any scientific work. Depending on the discipline and research project, specific questions arise regarding the preparation, processing, and management of these data. At the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Research Data Services (RDS), a cooperation between the University Library, the Center for Information and Media Services, and the Science Support Centre, provide answers to these questions along with the associated services and tools.

Become part of the RDS team, apply your expertise in project management and data-driven natural or engineering sciences research, and further develop it with our support to provide excellent services for the outstanding science of the NRW network terahertz.nrw.

Your main tasks
You will coordinate the implementation of the data and information management for the NRW network terahertz.nrw. To do this…

  • You will conceptualize and establish a central data repository with domain-specific data and metadata structures.
  • You will advise researchers in engineering and natural sciences on handling digital research data and convey the FAIR principles.
  • You will link information from research tools, repositories, and databases of the network into a “Terahertz Data Space.”
  • You will design training sessions to support the collection, preparation, analysis, storage, and archiving of data, develop them further, and conduct these sessions.
  • You will collaborate in national and international networks, plan related events (e.g., conferences), and implement them.

Your profile
You have a completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) and research experience in the STEM field. A PhD in a STEM field is an advantage.
You have experience in conducting scientific projects, advising researchers, or teaching at a university.
Library/information science knowledge, expertise in research data management, and programming skills are beneficial.
You have good knowledge of both German and English, both written and spoken.
You are interested in new research methods and the associated data types and formats.
Digital processes and the underlying technologies are of great interest to you, and you quickly grasp them.
As a team player, you value good collaboration at the interface between research and the various service departments of the university.
